THE LAST LION’S TESTAMENT is an Ebonform collector piece from 2026 made in old Indian rosewood. Through engraving, precision carving and layered relief, it explores a question that is larger than the lion at its center: what happens to courage when fear becomes normal?

The lion is a symbol, not simply a subject

The lion represents conviction—the instinct to remain true to one’s nature when environment, repetition or conformity makes surrender easier. The work does not treat bravery as a decorative idea. It asks whether courage can survive the company we keep and the conditions we accept.

Two declarations hold the narrative together

Across the composition, two statements oppose each other. One describes how living among cowards can erode natural bravery. The other insists that whatever life remains should be lived like a lion, without fear. Together they turn the piece into a conversation between influence and choice.

At room scale, the composition reads first; the engraving and carved texture emerge as the viewer approaches.

Why old Indian rosewood?

The dark grain and density of the material support the visual weight of the story. Carved areas fall into shadow while raised edges catch light, allowing the image to change subtly as illumination moves across the surface.

How does relief carry meaning?

Woven textures, engraved lines, recessed fields and the ornamental border create physical contrast. The work asks to be viewed from more than one distance: from across the room as a statement, and close up as a field of material decisions.

What does the edition mean?

The work belongs to a controlled edition of 50 physical pieces. Each release is intended to remain connected to its edition record and collector documentation so the identity and story of the work can be preserved beyond the first acquisition.
